The Party:

- Flit, the bat familiar
- Clench, the
WardogWar-Badger - Faufe Yitaw, Dogwere (Badgerwere?)
- Rawf, Wardog familiar
Grerr, Wardog totem animal(deceased)
- Caranthir, Human Leader of Men

- Lucille "Luce" Burwood, Fighter

- Airsen Birdmaster, Airwalker
Meanwhile, Caranthir noticed most of his companions were no longer in town; with Rig and Llarm still recovering, he and Airsen had nothing to do. They spent a few days listening for rumors; first, they heard of a small shop, with cut-rate merchandise, and picked up a Scroll of Gods, hoping to glean some hidden knowledge. They left a Potion of Anything, planning on returning for it later. Eventually, they ran into a city guard who was tasked with finding adventurers to clear out a problem on the Wall: the lower half of Mareten Tower had been closed off for centuries, but recently, something had been knocking on the door... from the inside. Eager to participate, the duo, along with their henchmen, explored the first floor of the tower. Apart from a painful magical trap and a carefully avoided pit, there was little of excitement. However, on the second floor (down), they had not explored far before a portcullis came crashing down, cutting off the exit! Airsen and Caranthir were trapped on one side, with Luce and Rhea Trueheart on the other. Hoping the paths rejoined, they continued exploring.
Luce and Rhea ran into a crab spider, but easily dispatched it; Airsen and Caranthir ended the lives of a pair of giant rats. Suddenly, their luck ran out - bashing a door open, they stumbled into a nest of 5 giant scorpions! Though they managed to bring down one quickly enough, the second proved tougher. Fearing the worst, Airsen sent his familiar to warn the other two; croaking and cawing, the raven lead the two henchwomen to the portcullis, then returned to his master. As they attempted to open the passage, the great scorpion's massive claws sheared through Caranthir's armor like can-openers, and a well-placed sting dropped his remaining health to zero! Airsen grabbed Caranthir's collar and dragged him back down the passageway, ordering his birds to cover their retreat. With a great swipe of its claw, the charging scorpion splatted all three birds and charged on. Just as Airsen lugged Caranthir's body into the room, the two henchwomen managed to heave the portcullis open, and quickly helped drag their leader to safety. The portcullis slammed shut, and though the scorpions battered against it, it held firm. Caranthir was given one of the royal honey potions; he recovered without a scratch, but still weak. The others helped him back up the stairs, as Airsen mourned the loss of his familiar and pets.
